I had an interesting discussion back in October 2015, when I was delivering a workshop in Casablanca - Morocco, about some of the essence of happiness, what makes us happy and what should we change in our behavior to increase the chances of us staying that way.
The beginning of that conversation, erupted from a simple emphasize that the more a person is happy and fulfilled, the less he or she will feel the need to require acceptance from others, so at the end of that, I was asked, what would be the advice that they need to hear to have a happy & fulfilled life in my opinion.
So I was very straight to the point, when I said:
Develop the habit of NOT worrying and Just Stick to that...
You see, most of us, spend a tremendous amount of valuable time worrying... worrying about the future, worrying about what others think of us, worrying about what might be hiding behind an obvious gesture... and so on.
We worry about failure, so we stop being creative
We worry about losing what is good, that we miss the Great
We worry about words that are said to us, yet we forget that nothing affects us without our permission...
I can go on like this for a long post... So I'm going to stop for now.
An article written by John R. Childress in 2012 about the effect of Worrying on Creativity shows clearly how the less you become worried and scared, the more creative you become, and I also believe that the opposite is very true, as creative people have more faith in themselves and in finding ways to concur reasons of anxiety that may be causing them to worry.
So you need to ask yourself the following question, if suddenly something really major happened in your life, would what you're worried about today still matter?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now,
Why worry now"
